Before you start talking about restructuring your team or ministries, there are a couple of things that are important to remember. I think if you're here, you already know them, but it's always worth saying them out loud.

There is a culture of competition between churches today that's unhealthy. The idea that if we only had the resources or the staff or the building the church down the street has, we could compete. Please, don’t think like that.

One of the biggest balancing acts that a leader has to deal with daily is walking the line between bringing a Leader and being a Manager. Both approaches are important, and both have their time, but if you're the wrong one at the wrong moment, your team can get confused.

If you lead a team, sooner or later, you're going to run into conflict. Whether it's something someone said or did, eventually, there will be a moment when your team isn't on the same page. So many people in leadership have a sense or an idea of the "right way" to do it because of a book they're read or a leader they follow. But so often, the thing that gets left out of the equation when deciding your leadership style is your team's personality.
